|More About Sonali Swami|
She was born in Bengaluru and brought up all over India as her dad served in the Indian army. He retired as Major General. Discipline, determination, and dedication all come naturally to her and are embedded from a very young age. After getting married to my husband who is a software professional, she got into professional dancing and later did a couple of certifications in fitness which kept her fit.
The credit of her success goes to her husband, who has supported her throughout the difficult journey. She has been married for the past 18 years.
It is very important to balance between the career and family. It has not been much of a trouble for Sonali because her children are old enough and are pretty independent. According to her, giving time to family is extremely essential and is a must.
After having kids, she had put on a lot of weight because of which she took up dancing and brisk walking. Weight training happened later when she was 37. At 38 she took up weightlifting. She got introduced to weight training and just got hooked to it, as the change in her was phenomenal. She wasn’t thin or skinny but lean and toned. And after winning several high-profile international fitness competitions, she is only getting stronger and better.
She believes that achieving these awards is just the beginning of a long journey in the Fitness world. Her vision is to see India a fit nation, She is working towards increasing awareness into fitness and helping everyone she can with the knowledge and experience she has to live a healthy and disciplined lifestyle to ensure a stress-free environment.
Many women ask her if they can get six-packs after having kids. Yes, definitely! Our society still thinks that six-pack abs are meant for men and not women. According to them, women should behave traditionally and not get into the fields meant for men. However, as Sonali said, things are in the process of changing and now men and women both are appreciated for their hard work.
