Tips to take care of your newborn in the summer

The summer season has here, and people of all ages are experiencing various difficulties. People have begun to experience stomach aches, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, and headaches as a result of the mercury rising temperatures. The season is more merciless for young ones. Especially, if the infant is younger than six months, the baby requires special attention during this hot summer season. The more challenging thing for new parents is that newborn babies are unable to communicate their problems verbally, and as a result, parents become aware of their problem only when it becomes severe. Here, in this article, we are sharing some tips to take care of your infant this season.

Keep your baby hydrated:

During the summer, special attention should be paid to ensure that the baby does not develop any skin problems as a result of dehydration. Breastfeeding should be given additional attention. Similarly to how adults’ needs for water increases during the summer, it is critical to adequately nurse young one. It’s extremely important to remember that the infant needs to be breastfed every two to three hours to create no shortage of water in the body of the child.

 Do not resort to other things than breast milk:

As soon as the summer season arrives, parents frequently begin offering their infant, lentil water, or fruit juice. If your infant is under six months, do not feed these things to him/her. Keep in mind that breast milk includes all of the nutrients a baby requires, and that breastfeeding is the greatest method to care for him during this season.

To maintain the body temperature of the baby during the summer season, you should keep baby in slightly cooler place. But even during this time, it is necessary to pay attention to some things. For example, the room should not be too cold due to AC. Note that the room temperature should be such that it is neither too cold nor too hot.

 Monitor baby’s pee:

 An easy way to find out if your baby is dehydrated during the summer is to keep an extra eye on your baby’s peeing pattern. For example, if an infant goes to is peeing more than six times a day, it means that his body is sufficiently hydrated. But if he goes to the loo less than six times, it is a sign that his baby’s body’s hydration level is going down. In this situation, the baby needs to be given additional breast feed.

Keep these things in mind:

  • You should take special care of some things so that the child does not have to face discomfort or heat in the summer season.
  • You can bathe the baby every day, but keep an eye on the temperature of the water during this time.
  • Dress the baby in light colored cotton clothes in the summer season.
  •  Avoid taking the child outside between during daytime in the summer season.
