Some new moms face challenging situations because of the lower milk supply. Don’t worry. Here is a natural way to increase the supply of breast milk by adding drumstick leaves in your diet.

Drumstick leaves are also called as Murungai leaves. Lord Muruga’s character is matched to this. How Lord Muruga is noted for his beauty and strength, the same is the benefit provided by these leaves. Its native is India. It is easily available in local market and it can be grown in your garden. These leaves are rich in calcium, iron, vitamin A, vitamin K, etc. And also these are considered as “galactagogue”, because of its role in boosting the milk supply.

Cuisine Type: Indian

Ingredients (For 3 people)

Drumstick leaves: 1 cup (choose fresh green leaves)

Dosa rice: 200 g

Grated coconut: 1 cup

Tamarind pulp: 1 tbsp

Turmeric: ¼ tsp

Dry red chilli: 5

Asafoetida: a small pinch

Salt: 2 tsp

Cooking procedure:

  • Wash and dip the rice for 3 hours.
  • Take it into a mixer grinder.
  • Add freshly grated coconut, dry red chillies, turmeric and tamarind pulp.
  • Grind it into a smooth batter by adding enough water.
  • Transfer the batter into a large bowl.
  • Add salt, asafoetida and drumstick leaves. Mix well.
  • Heat the dosa pan and make dosa.
  • Drizzle oil over the dosa and allow it to cook.
  • After 3 minutes, flip it and cook for 2 more minutes till it has done.
  • Serve hot.
