Covid-19 Updates (11-12 April 2021) : Virus, Wave and Vaccine

It’s been more than 2 years since the SARS-CoV-2- hit us. This Covid 19/Coronavirus pandemic since then doesn’t seem to stop. However, we as a species have constantly united to fight this. Today, we track the progress of our battle through the Covid 19 Updates.

CASES & CONTAINMENT MEASURES

  • This virus doesn’t seem to stop as the number of Covid deaths on 12th April 2021 was 904. This is even more thanthe 24-hr record of the previous day i.e 839.
  • With this, India’s total Covid Death toll as of 2021 has increased to more than 1,70,000; and we’re just in the 1st half of 2021.
  • Seeing the spread, Chhattisgarh government has imposed complete lockdown in 17 districts.
  • Madhya Pradesh also sees the same fate with lockdown in 12 cities, including Jabalpur, Ujjain and Indore. This is due to the increased number of cases (over 5000 in 1 day)
  • Centre to help Maharashtra procure 1,121 ventilators from Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.
  • Centre bans export of Remdesivir & its active ingredients till Covid situation improves in country.
  • At Present, the number of Active Covid Positive cases stand at 11,08,087.

COVID VACCINATION PROGRESS

In line with our honourable PM’s motto of Dawai Bhi, Kadhai Bhi, we shall also look into the DAWAI aspect i.e the Vaccination.

  • PM Modi announced the TEEKA UTSAV to be held from 11th to 14th April. PM Narendra Modi appealed for celebrating the Vaccination Festival by vaccinating maximum number of eligible people.
  • In lieu of this goal, Day 1 of the Teeka Utsav saw 27 lakh 69 Thousand vaccinations.
  • Moreover, 63,800 Covid 19 Vaccination Centres were operational in these 2 days.
  • South Central Railway- Vijayawada Division carried out a special vaccination drive at Vijayawada Railway station.
  • The Vaccine Festival is working by the motives of : 1) Each One, Vaccinate One ; 2) Each One, Treat One ; 3) Each One, Save One ; 4) Personal Hygiene and Helping in creating Containment Zones

This effort has led to India becoming the fastes nation to administer 100 Million Covid Vaccines. It achieve this feat in 85 days. With this, the total number of vaccinated people reached 10,45,28,565.
